Seeking Life

Beware of Christians. This movie is awesome.

[i carry your heart with me(i carry it in] by E.E. Cummings

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
     i fear
not fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it’s you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that’s keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

One month from today I will be on my way to Africa. I can’t believe it’s finally happening. My heart is so full.

A few months ago my core group and I decorated boxes during one of our meetings. It involved a lot of paint, glitter, and some creativity. At first, I was skeptical as so what we were doing (see, I lack any kind of creative genius) but now, months later, I look back with thankfulness.

After making my box, I decided to make it my prayer box. I write down the prayers and burdens of my heart and put them in the box. Once I shut the lid, they are no longer my burdens to carry. Sometimes it is hard to let go, but when I do, I am filled with peace.

Tonight I decided to sit down and look through all my prayers. Some I put back in the box, but others I got to take out because they are prayers that God answered. It was really important for me to be reminded that I’m not just another voice in the crowd. To God, my voice matters. I can never be reminded too often that I am precious in the eyes of the Lord. Not only am I precious, so are my words.

“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24

“I see your face in every sunrise, the color of the morning is inside your eyes. The world awakens in the light of the day. I look up to the sky and say, you’re beautiful.”

“But friends, you’re not in the dark, so how could you be taken off guard by any of this? You’re sons of Light, daughters of Day. We live under wide open skies and know where we stand. So let’s not sleepwalk through life like those others. Let’s keep our eyes open and be smart. People sleep at night and get drunk at night. But not us! Since we’re creatures of Day, let’s act like it. Walk out into the daylight sober, dressed up in faith, love, and the hope of salvation.” —1 Thessalonians 5:4-8 (MSG)

What I am thankful for….

1. I have less than eight days of school left.

2. Qualifying to go to Nationals with my climbing team.

3. Rooftop adventures with my core group.

4. Having my plane ticket purchased for my trip to Zimbabwe this summer.

5. Chattanooga Young Life leaders.

6. Checking things off my to-do list because it makes me feel accomplished.

7. Successfully unclogging the drain in my bathroom by myself without throwing up (it was a close call).

8. Photo Booth. It provides endless amounts of entertainment.

9. Nights like tonight where my neighbors are actually quiet. Praise Jesus.

10. Warm chocolate chip cookies. Yum!

“Your love is sweeter than honey. Your love is stronger than death. Your love lifts me of my burdens and teaches me to dance.”

I love that this weekend I am reminded that from death comes life.

Jesus died for me. He rose again. He conquered death.

I will never be able to comprehend the way He loves me, but that’s okay because all I need to know is that He does love me.

I will rejoice in His love. I will dance before Him in freedom. I will fall before the thrown in awe of my King.
